Rhodochrosite also called Inca Rose, is a mineral characterized by light pink to deep red color bands that occur in swirl-like patterns. It was discovered in the 13th century within the Incan Empire and was held in high regard by the Incan People. Rhodochrosite for lapidary and mineral specimen use can be found in Argentina, South Africa, Peru, Montana, Colorado, Russia, Romania, Spain, China, Gabon, Mexico, and Japan.
